Progress goes on buying spree

Progress Software has bought Mindreef, a maker of software tools for implementing service-oriented architectures (SOAs), says Information Week.

Last week, it announced its interest to buy Iona Technologies, a data integration software maker, for $162 million.

Mindreef said support and services would continue uninterrupted, and the company was working with Progress Software in aligning product direction and roadmaps. There were no plans to eliminate products, Mindreef said.

MEGA speeds up SOA

MEGA has released MEGA EA Accelerator for TOGAF to expedite on-time, on-budget delivery of enterprise architecture (EA) projects and reduce the risk of project failure, says ThomasNet.

Based on the MEGA Modeling Suite for business process analysis and EA, Accelerator allows enterprise architects and business process analysts to follow a standard, comprehensive method to manage EA projects and insure project success.

The Accelerator implements the latest version of The Open Group Architecture Framework, or TOGAF, a detailed method and tools for designing an enterprise architecture.

Wipro takes on the big guys

Wipro has consolidated its entire consulting business under a single umbrella, Wipro Consulting Services, says Times of India.

TK Kurien, formerly CEO of Wipro BPO, has been appointed president of the consulting business. Kurien will also head Wipro's large deals, where he will be responsible for deals of $100 million and above.

The new framework will comprise key consulting practices like business performance improvement, IT planning and governance, enterprise architecture, risk and compliance and industry services.
