Project management not only for project managers

Project management is not only for project managers, but is an essential skill for all business stakeholders within organisations.

On 2 December, in Cape Town, Faculty Training Institute (FTI) is running its popular three-day Project Management Essentials course. Project Management Essentials cutsthrough all the project management jargon and equips participants with simple, yet powerful, techniques that can be applied immediately in the workplace.

Today, more and more business people undertake small to medium-sized projects as part of achieving their business objectives, even though they may not officially hold the title of project manager. They are also very likely to be involved in projects as stakeholders. Project management concepts, tools and techniques, therefore, play a vital role in adding business value across the board, and do not only apply to project managers.

The intensive short-course teaches business people how to define work clearly and set measurable objectives. Delegates will understand the importance of soft skills in achieving project objectives, understand how different stakeholders view success in different ways, and learn to manage change.

The course also teaches delegates how to break down projects into manageable pieces, estimate and schedule tasks, understand and plan for uncertainty, monitor progress and make controlled adjustments to plans as required.
