Public sector exhibits excellence in architecture

Telelogic announced that its client, the US Department of the Interior (DOI) was recently recognised for its enterprise architecture program for the second year running.

In 2004, the department won the Excellence in Enterprise Architecture Award from the E-Gov Institute. At the end of last year, it received further accolades, by being rated the highest for its EA Program across the Federal Government by the US Government Office of Management and Budget.

The DOI built a roadmap showing the relationships between existing processes, and the technology infrastructure. From there, it was able to create modernisation blueprints to improve internal efficiencies and services, minimise security and privacy risks and reduce costs, the announcement said.

SOA results in service-driven enterprises

Businesses today demand significant returns on their technology investments. In order to meet rapidly changing needs, Global 2000 enterprises are applying composite applications based on SOA to solve a variety of business-critical issues, writes Shailender Kumar for the Financial Express.

SOA is a standards-based organisational and design methodology that more closely aligns IT with business processes using a collection of shared services on a network. A company that has successfully applied SOA and reaped the benefits is transformed into a service-driven enterprise.

The service-driven enterprise is optimised around service-efficiently servicing customers, partners and employees - and accelerating the service response time of the business.
