Research and Markets adds convergence report
Research and Markets has added the "Fixed-Mobile Convergence in Enterprise Voice in Europe: Forecasts 2008-2013" report to its offering, says Market Watch.
Given the acceleration of mobile substitution in business voice, and the accompanying decline in fixed voice revenue, fixed-mobile convergence is increasingly important in the enterprise voice market.
The report looks at the drivers of and obstacles to growth in the fixed-mobile convergence market, and analyses the differences between countries in Western Europe.
Enterprises switch to mobile
The economic downturn will make businesses spend less on fixed-line voice budgets and look to mobile phones as a cheaper communications alternative, states TechWorld.
Telecoms analyst group Analysys Mason's report: 'Fixed-mobile convergence in enterprise voice in Europe: forecasts 2008-2013', predicts the real threat to fixed enterprise voice spend in Western Europe during 2009 will come from mobile substitution.
The group predicted in Western Europe enterprise mobile voice spend is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 1% per annum, while enterprise fixed voice spend is expected to decline at a CAGR of minus 15% per annum.
Engineering benefits from convergence
Rockwell Automation has released results of a new study representing a broad cross-section of manufacturing industries, revealing that companies progressing toward converging their IT and controls engineering organisations are reaping major benefits, states Plant Engineering Live.
These benefits include higher efficiency, increased reliability, shorter project timelines and better business continuity.
The study, released at Automation Fair, in Memphis in November, also found those with more integration between these functions experience less conflict and are more optimistic about the future of convergence.
