The inaugural Call Centre Showcase, aimed at promoting products and services to the local call centre, contact centre and business process outsourcing industries, will be hosted at the Inanda Club in Sandton on 8 October.
Business analysts predict that this market will grow by as much as 100 000 jobs by 2005, and with this in mind, CallCentreCity has organised the event - which brings together key suppliers, top executives and decision-makers - in order to provide an environment for meaningful business networking.
"With a growing international trend to outsourcing call centres to countries with lower costs than European and US markets, SA is positioned to benefit from significant foreign investment and a surge in employment opportunities," says Rod Jones, marketing director of the CallCentreCity Group.
He says the Call Centre Showcase is a different concept to a conference, as the showcase will provide a platform for vendors and service providers to present their products and services to the industry.
"We have opted for an environment that encourages the promotion of goods and services. Whereas with conferences, delegates must pay to attend and vending is frowned upon, Call Centre Showcase is funded by sponsorships and qualified delegates are invited to attend free of charge."
He says key South African call centre vendors and suppliers will deliver presentations, creating an ideal environment for knowledge exchange.
"The point of this event is to provide an opportunity for stakeholders to effectively interface with key decision-makers, and to present their credentials and their product or service offerings in an environment that encourages trade," says Jones.
