Salesforce.com eyes content management

Salesforce.com has acquired one of its on the AppExchange and plans to release a new application to manage documents and other unstructured content, reports Tech Target.

The company allow a community of users to organise content, instead of utilising a traditional folder structure. Called ContentExchange, the application will allow users to manage documents, spreadsheets and presentations within Salesforce.com.

The company also says its plans expand its footprint beyond CRM and into a full software as a service platform by adding Apex Content, a platform for building content-based on-demand applications.

Microsoft patches target flaws

Microsoft has issued four updates to fix vulnerabilities in Windows and its Content Management Server software, says IT Pro.

A memory corruption vulnerability in Microsoft's Content Management Server product could allow hackers to run remote code in the context of the IIS Webserver.

The company says it considers this to be less of a threat for servers Content Management Server with IIS 6.0 because the IIS service runs with the limited privileges of the Network Service account.

FatWire releases Content Server 7

FatWire has released its latest content management platform, Content Server 7, reports CNW.

The company says this product puts content management capabilities into the hands of anyone involved with eBusiness initiatives.

Content Management for Everyone means that casual content contributors can create, modify, and arrange content without learning new tools, and without even realising they are using a content management system.
