Samsung Electronics SA and Vodacom Business Services, the business arm of Vodacom Group, have entered into an agreement that will see the two companies collaborate on a programme aimed at developing solutions that will leverage their respective expertise on mobile devices and infrastructure for corporates.

In a statement, the companies say this partnership aims to drive access for businesses to enterprise mobility turn-key solutions within their technology infrastructure needs, through a centralised all-round technology partnership.

"The changing needs of enterprise customers are increasingly seeing organisations across industries working together to offer jointly-developed solutions that provide users with a more integrated product offering," says Paulo Ferreira, head of Enterprise Mobility at Samsung Electronics SA.

"This is just one way that Samsung is able to continue to offer innovative business solutions and we believe that, through this partnership, we are strengthening our offering for the enterprise."

While the initial phase of the agreement is focused on mobile solutions for the enterprise - coupled with Vodacom's network and enterprise mobility solution backing - the collaborative offerings will be extended to other multimedia devices down the line depending on the requirements, the companies say.

Samsung devices will work with Vodacom to enable the network operator to customise Samsung solutions for new services that cater for enterprise customers.

"Together, Samsung and Vodacom are better able to understand their customer needs and develop solutions that make strategic sense for both organisations while being matched to the requirements of enterprise users," says Ferreira.

Furthermore, he adds, Samsung will provide Vodacom with an on-site team for the provision of enterprise mobility solutions, a team that is able to leverage the technology and footprint of the operator's network.

"The Samsung team will provide Vodacom with device optimisation, training, and the relevant support to extract value out of our innovative solutions that see enterprise customers meet their diverse business requirements and further strengthen the business-to-business leadership position of ourselves and Vodacom in the operator space," adds Ferreira.

He also points out that the combination of the operator offering, Samsung devices, and the respective horizontal and vertical solutions catering for the enterprise, mean that the companies are able to offer new and premium services to organisations who want to benefit from a more integrated mobile solution portfolio.

This partnership will see the extension of each organisation's strengths in typical IT and technology priority consideration criteria around enterprise mobility, such as mobile device management, security, and a line of business applications.

"We will conduct regular business reviews on the solutions offered to ensure we continually look at improving our collaboration with one another and offer customers the flexible tools and services needed in an ultra-competitive business environment," concludes Ferreira.
