SAP broadens BI access
SAP has introduced BusinessObjects Explorer, which it says brings business intelligence (BI) analysis capabilities to all business users, reports vnunet.
SAP unveiled the product at its Sapphire customer and partner event in Orlando, where it also announced it had finished integrating its 2007 BusinessObjects purchase with the rest of the SAP portfolio.
The aim is to benefit an organisation in terms of increased efficiency and more informed decision- making, SAP said.
Visual i/o intros 'visual search'
Visual i/o has unveiled the newest generation of its enterprise software for interactive visual analysis and BI at the IBM Cognos Forum taking place in Orlando, Florida from 12 to 15 May, says Trading Markets.
Through the product, Visual i/o also introduced a 'visual search' capability, which is says delivers unprecedented integration of BI with data search functionalities.
"As a presentation layer technology, Visual i/o's products and components reside on top of multiple data sources and the Cognos architecture to provide intuitive and highly interactive user interfaces," said Angela Shen-Hsieh, founder of Visual i/o.
PIC, TWC sign BI contract
In March the Petrochemical Industries Company (PIC) released BI RFP to select a suitable BI product and the most competent implementation company to deliver a BI system at PIC, reports AME Info.
According to PIC, the desired result of this BI solution would primarily be to further enhance the company's performance, by automating and implementing balanced scorecard, enterprise reporting, analysis and enterprise planning, budgeting, and forecasting.
The contract was signed in Kuwait by Jehad Nasser Alhajji, deputy MD of Fertilisers at PIC, and Jasem Al-Maraghi, vice-chairman and acting CEO of TWC. Ibrahim Al-Musaitir, IT manager at PIC said: “The BI solution will be the core of PIC MIS and this solution is a strategic step for PIC development, especially in the current market circumstances.”
