SD card solves Wii problem
Nintendo has announced that as a solution to the lack of space on the Wii gaming console, it will allow customers to download Virtual Console and WiiWare software directly to an SD card, reports Computerworld.
The Wii console already has an SD slot that allows users to store games, but players must first download the games from an SD card to the Wii's internal disk storage, which is only 512MB in size.
Customers who run out of space on the Wii's internal memory will be able to purchase and download Virtual Console and WiiWare software directly from the Shopping Channel to an SD memory card.
Fujitsu may sell storage business
Fujitsu is in talks to sell its unprofitable storage-drive business to Western Digital, states TaipeiTimes.
Fujitsu shares rose as much as 7.2% in Tokyo trading as Deutsche Bank and JPMorgan Chase said a sale may help raise investor confidence over the management's commitment to boost earnings.
The rumoured purchase may help Western Digital challenge Seagate Technology's lead in a storage-drive industry that is not only facing falling prices, but also fierce competition from flash memory chip makers.
IBM adds storage to BladeCentre S
IBM is adding shared storage to its BladeCentre S systems, aimed at delivering a simplified IT environment for small and medium-sized business customers, says Vnunet.
The BladeCentre S with shared storage will enable customers to share information across all blades in a single chassis for improved utilisation, reliability and reduced costs, IBM said.
The move will cut the cost of shared storage by 30% to 40%, bringing enterprise-class storage capabilities to smaller firms and branch offices that lack the IT staff and budgets to manage expanding volumes of business information.
