Having developed SAP drivers for its Business Intelligence (BI) solutions, software developer, Seagate Software, and creator of Seagate Crystal Reports (SCR), has confirmed its commitment to users of SAP inter-enterprise solutions.
Key benefits for Seagate Analysis, Seagate Info - products bundled with Seagate`s free software initiative - and SAP users include the ability to distribute reports to the organisation with minimal impact to the R/3 transactional system and the creation of queries and reports without ABAP programming.
"Users may also create and share quality reports with data from multiple R/3 modules and non-SAP data sources as well as leverage visualisation, navigation, and analysis tools to make sense of data," says Vivek Thomas, regional marketing manager for Seagate Software.
Seagate Analysis contains SAP R/3 drivers and sample reports for several SAP applications, which can simply be plugged in and used right away, enabling users to analyse their SAP R/3 data - without delay. Seagate Info enables these users to share that information throughout the enterprise. Companies looking at building a separate data warehouse for users to access data in SAP R/3 may install Seagate Analysis and Seagate Info to facilitate these back and front office processes. "Seagate Software`s BI tools provide users of SAP R/3 applications with the reporting technology they need to make real-time business decisions," explained Thomas.
The demand for enhanced access to SAP-resident data is also catered to as Seagate Software has developed the following SAP drivers for its business intelligence solutions:
. Open SQL: This driver allows Seagate Analysis, Seagate Crystal Reports and Seagate Info to access R/3 data via the ABAP Dictionary, making it easy for SAP users to access, analyse, and report from R/3 data. This interaction with the SAP programming language reduces maintenance on reporting as a result of application modification;
. ABAP Query driver: This driver allows users to report from pre-built R/3 ABAP queries. This enables users to identify data to be included in their reports without having to navigate the underlying transaction tables of SAP R/3; and
. SAP Business Information Warehouse (SAP BW) driver: Seagate Software`s business intelligence products are BAPI certified against SAP BW to provide seamless access to SAP BW via OLE DB.
In an additional development, Seagate Software is working with SAP to integrate the ability to output SAP Human Resources (SAP HR) queries in Crystal Reports format.
