SecureData buys SensePost

Johannesburg, 28 Aug 2007

SecureData Holdings, formerly ERP.com Holdings, has bought firm SensePost for R32 million in cash, in a deal effective from 1 July. The deal was finalised on Friday, the company said this morning.

SensePost provides information security assessment, consulting, training and monitoring services to large organisations in SA and abroad.

SecureData MD Brett Parker says SensePost will continue to operate as an independent company within the SecureData group.

"It is anticipated that the transaction will allow the group to offer additional services to its existing customers by marketing the SensePost services and technologies to business partners and customers, primarily in the , telecommunications, healthcare and manufacturing industries," the company said in a SENS notice.

"In addition, the acquisition adds depth to the group's management and specialist skills capacity."

SecureData Holdings last month changed its name from ERP.com Holdings. Other companies in the group include SecureData Security, SecureData Content (formerly SBI) and SecureData Services.

In June, SecureData said: "There is ample opportunity for expansion through acquisitions or partnerships, but the healthy state of the company - it has grown in revenue by at least 50% for eight consecutive years - means it can continue its strong drive for organic growth."

Parker says a "strong trend" among customers towards seeking holistic, integrated systems adds to the company's positive outlook.

"SecureData is already in a prime position to benefit, as it is the only company in Africa positioned to provide end-to-end information risk management solutions, and is planning to extend its offerings beyond the security space."
