Sentech CEO wins Top ICT Business Woman in Africa 2006

Sentech CEO, Dr Sebiletso Mokane-Matabane, was awarded Top ICT Business Woman in Africa 2006 at the African ICT Achievers Awards held in Sandton on 25 November 2006.

Now in its eighth year, African ICT Achievers Awards has seen tremendous growth and has embraced a full programme for 2006. While the awards ceremony and corporate social investment have always been key, last year's addition of the African ICT Achievers Awards Executive Business Forum has forged new ties in 2006.

Created in response to the needs of the business community, its contribution towards digital inclusion on the continent has already been felt.

Over the past couple of years, the awards programme reflected achievement across Africa and included nominations from as far a field as Egypt, Namibia, Uganda, Nigeria and Kenya. A stronger drive into Africa is a key focus for 2006, with emphasis on women, investment, education, SMME and innovation.

The other finalists in the same category were Sandy Pullinger, Managing Director of nFold, and Sisanda Ntlabathi of Info Tech Resource Centre.

"Helping bridge the digital divide in Africa is a huge undertaking. Those who help achieve results do so with foresight, energy and innovation. Dr Mokone-Matabane has made a considerable contribution to this goal," said Pranill Ramchander, Sentech's Portfolio Manager: Corporate Communications.

"We at Sentech are extremely proud of our CEO for her achievement which marks her success as a major drive behind Sentech, says Ramchander.
