Sentech, South Africa's major broadband signal and multimedia distributor will again sponsor the Women's World Cup of Golf, taking place at Sun City from 20 to 22 January 2006.
This international sporting event is endorsed by the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA), the Robe di Kappa Ladies European Tour (LET), and the Women's Professional Golf Association of South Africa (WPGA). Twenty countries will compete, including Japan, the defending champions, and South Africa, the host nation. Each team will field two players and the deadline for team selections by the LPGA and LET was 15 October 2005.
The Women's World Cup of Golf provides an ideal platform for Sentech to demonstrate the functionality of its technological capacity while empowering women as a previously disadvantaged group with a platform to excel.
Sentech's CEO, Dr Sebiletso Mokone-Matabane, is already making a stand for women in a male-dominated ICT sector. In recent years, the golf course has become the unofficial boardroom for many organisations and as more and more women are now decision-makers, it has become important for them to hold their own on a golf course.
"Interaction during a round of golf plays an important role in forming business relationships. In a setting that encourages relaxed conversation, you can gain a new perspective on your associates and clients and observe how they react in testing situations. The course is also a good place for career-minded women to evaluate self-performance under pressure," says Mokone-Matabane.
The Women's World Cup of Golf is not only a pioneering initiative by two South Africans, but it is herald as a milestone in the women's game worldwide. For this reason Sentech is proud to align its vision of being the leader in providing world class broadband communications to a golf initiative that is set to become the leader in international golfing events.
Ticket sales, already underway from R100 per adult per day, or R250 for a season ticket for the full tournament, represent incredible value and the opportunity to experience some of the finest women's golfing action in the world.
