Sentech presents The World's Biggest Company Golf Day

Sentech, the broadband signal and broadband multimedia distributor, will again sponsor The World's Biggest Company Golf Day, from Tuesday 23 to Thursday 25 May 2006. Last year almost 3 000 golfers from 50 companies across South Africa took part in this mammoth event, making history - and the Guinness Book of Records.

The day was also a resounding success in terms of its fund-raising effort: R100 000 was raised for CHOC (Children's Haematology Oncology Clinics), a nationwide voluntary organisation. The goal of CHOC is to improve the welfare and quality of care for children with cancer. The organisation provides these children with direct practical help from diagnosis onwards, recognising the inevitable disruption to family life when a child faces strenuous and often lengthy treatment.

In 2006, R10 of each player's entrance fee will be donated to CHOC, in addition to funds raised from the sports memorabilia auctions, which is held by each company participating in the event.

"We look forward to embracing the challenge of beating our own record in an event of this calibre," says Sentech CEO, Dr Sebiletso Mokone-Matabane. "Being a keen golfer myself, I'm excited about another year of great golf for corporate South Africa," she adds.

With participating golf courses in all main centres including Bloemfontein, Port Elizabeth and East London, companies can participate by choosing location and a variety of packages. Packages range from the 'Full Monty' and 'Dirty Dozen' to the 'Six Pack' and each includes green fees, branded shirts/caps for all players, a goodie pack, pre-round snacks, lunch, dinner, caddies/carts and prizes to the value of R10 000. "All event organisation is included prior to, during, and after the golf day to ensure success," says Andre du Toit of The World's Biggest Company Golf Day.

"Most companies who participated last year have again indicated an interest to take part and we plan to have many more of South Africa's top 100 companies participating in 2006. For this reason we have spread the event over three days to accommodate them," says Du Toit.

"We encourage companies to replace one of their own traditional golf days with The World's Biggest Company Golf Day, to enjoy a national event of national importance," says Michelle Potgieter General Manager at Sentech.

Any registered golfer, irrespective of handicap or status, is welcome to play in this charity-benefiting event and the results - of play and funds raised for CHOC - will be published in the national media.
