The new Samsung Galaxy Note 3 was unveiled at the highly-anticipated 'Unpacked' event, that took place at IFA in Berlin earlier tonight. Galaxy Note 3 has some significant improvements, including better processors, 3GB of RAM and 4K video recording. It also features a 1080p display.
When it comes to looks, the device has a leather-textured back panel that comes in an array of colours: the standard black, white or 'blush pink', as well as some vibrant metallics.
The screen is wider than the Note 2, with a 5.7-inch full HD Super AMOLED that sacrifices nothing on the device's width or weight (168g).
Under the hood is where some improvements creep in. The Note 3 has a Snapdragon 2.3GHz quad-core processor, a 3 200mAh battery, category 4 LTE and a 13MP camera.
Another element that Samsung says is a leap up from previous versions is the Note 3's enhanced S-Pen, designed for 'better multitasking'. The pen works with easy dot, circle or box motions. One feature allows the user to hand-write a phone number and name on a pad, which can be saved to the contents.
A scrapbooking feature lets the user circle bits of Web pages - pictures, text and similar, to keep for later. Bringing up the pic will show links to the picture or text's source.
The Note 3 introduces MultiWindow, which enables the ability to run the same application in two windows, and drag text across to copy. Useful when using 'Chat On' with more than one contact, for example.
Drawing a box within an app using the S-Pen allows the user to bring up another app of their choice, custom-sized to the box drawn.
The Galaxy Note 3 will be available starting end September. Prices have not been announced.
