Simple firewall appliance for the small office, home office

Johannesburg, 09 Feb 2016

Tarsus Distribution has introduced the Dell SonicWALL SOHO Unified Threat Management (UTM) firewalls to South Africa, providing resellers with a simple-to-deploy and easy-to-manage firewall appliance for the small office and home (SOHO) market.

This new product offers business-class performance for homes, small businesses, and remote offices. It delivers full-featured security by combining intrusion prevention, gateway anti-virus, anti-spyware, content filtering, application control, and anti-spam services in one device.

It eliminates network bottlenecks and increases productivity, while also providing secure access to a broad range of mobile devices, including laptops, smartphones and tablets. It provides the hardware and all the services needed for comprehensive network protection from viruses, spyware, worms, Trojans, key loggers and more, and without the complexity of building your own security package.

Says Dean Kempster, Dell product manager at Tarsus Distribution: "We're seeing more and more demand for simple security solutions, as home users and small businesses become more aware of the growing threat posed by cyber crime. The Dell SonicWALL SOHO is a great solution for a home office where an executive works full-time or some of the time, as well as for families who want to safely enjoy broadband services and emerging smart home technologies.

"It's also perfect for smaller businesses that want to protect business-critical information or for remote branches in large companies. We expect it to be particularly well received for applications such as hotspots in smaller hotels and coffee shops," Kempster adds.

Dell SonicWALL Network Security platforms employ a patented multi-core network processor architecture and Reassembly-Free Deep Packet Inspection (RFDPI) engine. Together with Dell's cloud-assist gateway anti-virus/malware technology, Dell Network Security solutions deliver strong security, low latency and high throughput at a remarkably reduced TCO.

SonicWALL can be combined with Dell solutions such as X-series switches and SonicPoint wireless networking to provide a complete networking and information security package for homes and companies. The SonicWALL products integrate seamlessly with the Dell SonicPoint Series WLAN access points to create a wireless network security solution that protects wireless traffic from harmful traffic. In addition, they integrate with Dell X-series switches for customers who need gigabit Ethernet networking.
