SMEs concerned about data loss

Symantec announced the findings of its survey into the and storage behaviours of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in New Zealand, says Business to Business.

According to the survey, the key driver for 90% of SMEs to secure and their information is the risk of valuable data loss. More than 60% of respondents identified social networking as a key security concern for their business while 68% named mobile applications.

The survey revealed that 47% of respondents in New Zealand had been affected by an Internet security threat, such as a computer virus, and 37% were impacted by a phishing scam in the last year.

Ntractive chooses Zeus

According to Bob's Guide, Zeus Technology's ZXTM (Zeus Extensible Traffic Manager) has been selected by NTractive as part of its infrastructure to manage its hybrid Web application, Elements SBM.

Available as software as a service (SaaS), Elements SBM is aimed at the SME market.

Says Justin Bartak, co-founder and CTO of Ntractive: "We chose ZXTM because it offers a cost-effective entry point, with the ability to scale both horizontally and vertically. With ZXTM, we can consistently deliver excellent service to existing and future customers, even during peaks of extreme traffic."

RIM battles in Asia

BlackBerry-maker RIM faces an uphill battle against competing platform Windows Mobile in the Asia-Pacific region, reports ZDNet.

An estimated six million Windows Mobile devices were shipped in the region last year, compared to RIM's one million, according to Springboard Research.

"BlackBerry's service price is considered high in the Asian business context, especially for the SME sector," said Bryan Wang, research director at Springboard.
