SMEs keen on VOIP

About 92% of small to medium enterprises (SMEs) are connected to the , according to research released by the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA), says Computerworld.

The ACMA research also found that 93% of SMEs report using a mobile phone.

Furthermore, an estimated 13%of SMEs are using voice over Internet Protocol (VOIP) services, but planned adoption rates for the near future are far more positive.

Avaya awards partners

A number of Avaya partners have been commended for their efforts during the vendor's recent Mena Business Partner Awards ceremony in Dubai, including 13 SMEs, states itp.net.

Future Technology scooped the overall partner of the year award, while Proligix - a relative newcomer to Avaya's partner ecosystem - took the equivalent title in the SME sector for surpassing many partners in terms of revenue and expertise.

Orascom Tecnhology Systems won the contact centre of the year award, while Oman-based reseller Jawad Sultan Technology netted the unified communications accolade. Saudi outfit Jeraisy bagged the transformation award.

India presents SME summit

Birla Institute of Management Technology (BIMTECH) recently hosted the "SMEs Summit 2008", which concerned 'Indian SMEs in Exports', says India Edu-News.

The summit was inaugurated by Ashwani Kumar, honourable minister of state for Industry, from the government of India.

The summit's aim was to bridge the knowledge gap between Indian SMEs and the government so they can achieve their full potential.
