SMEs look to project management
Cadence president and CEO John Patton chaired a panel of research experts at the Project Management (PM) Institute`s Latin America Congress in Mexico, according to PR USA.net.
"Small and medium-sized companies feel pressure to implement enterprise project management solutions to improve processes, but often fail to realise the benefits due to the increased complexity that comes with it," said Patton.
The Cancun panel is the second in a series of four on the subject of project complexity. The remaining sessions will be held at PMI congresses in Asia and Europe throughout 2008.
Workforce names project manager
Angela Owen, a workforce management specialist in the healthcare and government sectors, has been appointed project manager to lead labour management initiatives with Workforce Insight, according to eMedia Wire.
Owen has managed the implementations of Kronos and Lawson software for several large and widely dispersed businesses.
In addition to her PM leadership, Owen has expertise in developing transformational training programmes, change management and complex product configuration.
Book focuses on workers
"The Rise of the Project Workforce" is the first book to explore the tools, technology and software required to operate a company in a flat world, according to ad-hoc news.
In this book, Rudolf Melik shows how the flattening of the world has transformed the structure of the organisation and nature of work in the last several decades.
In addition to labour dispersion, companies are challenged to achieve and maintain compliance, with regulations such as Sarbanes-Oxley, which directly impact project management and execution. These shifts are changing the way people work, collaborate and make business decisions.
