Sony unveiled its new store at Vodaworld, in Midrand, this week, showcasing the brand's range of Xperia smartphones and consumer electronics products.
At the store opening on Thursday, Spyros Gousetis, Sony Mobile communications marketing director for the Middle East and Africa, said the store furthers Sony's relationship with Vodacom and will serve as a place where consumers can get a real feel for Sony's range of Xperia products.
The store boasts four hubs - Create, Play, Watch and Listen - each featuring interactive displays to demonstrate the capacity of Sony's range of products. Everything from TVs and headphones to tablets and wireless speakers is on display in the new store.
The Sony team had a number of gadgets on show at the store opening. These included the Sony Xperia Go, which is water-resistant and was displayed in a fishbowl filled with water. The functionality of the Sony SmartWatch, which links to users' smartphones via Bluetooth, was also featured at the event.
"Xperia smartphones are at the heart of Sony's mobile strategy of delivering a consistent user experience across devices, enabling consumers to easily and quickly access the world of entertainment that Sony delivers," said Christian Lonne, sales director for Sony Mobile Communications in the Middle East and Africa.
The store will have a multifunctional role; it will be used for product launches, and will also exhibit Sony products and technology.
