The company told the market yesterday that Garth Alan Coetser had resigned as chairman of Square One and its subsidiaries, with “immediate effect”. No reasons for his resignation were given.
Coetser was appointed as non-executive chairman in December 1999. He achieved a BComm degree in 1978 and BAcc degree in 1981, from the University of the Witwatersrand.
After completing his articles with Peat Marwick Mitchell and Co, and passing the Chartered Accountants Board Examination in 1981, Coetser lectured in accounting, business information systems and management accounting, at Wits University.
He went on to set up a financial services business and then became a founding member of Square One Solutions.
Last year, CEO Craig Alexander stepped down towards the end of last year to start a company that aimed to offer hi-tech solutions. Alexander took with him another director, Nick Niewoudt, who was moving with the former CEO to the newly-formed Safe City Solutions.
