Tania Kling, recently appointed HP product manager at Duxbury Networking, walked off with HP`s annual "Product Manager Challenge" award. She faced an all-male challenge from HP`s other network distributing companies.
In accepting the award, Kling said the targets were easier to reach than she had imagined, largely because of the synergies between Duxbury`s focus on networking solutions and the HP product set.
"I was also fortunate to have the wealth of technical resources resident in Duxbury at my disposal to assist resellers with network consultation, design and even application tasks. The HP product and Duxbury technical support combination proved to be attractive to the resellers in my portfolio and contributed to my winning the award," she said.
From HP`s perspective, key criteria for the competition, in addition to sales, were the management of appropriate stock holdings, accurate pricing and an emphasis on skills and technical resources.
At the award ceremony, Louis Helmbold, sales manager Procurve Networking Business, at HP SA, explained that the award is presented every six months to the HP product manager from HP`s networking distributor companies who beats the set target by the biggest margin.
"We are pleased to present the award to Tania, not only because she is the first woman to win the competition, but also because she and Duxbury are such recent and welcome additions to our channel infrastructure," he said.
