The new face of BI

Performance dashboards are revolutionary because they have the power to transform business and optimise performance, but they are evolutionary because none of the components are new, according to Warehousing Institute services director, Wayne Eckerson.

A report by ADT Mag quotes Eckerson as saying performance dashboards give executives a high-level view of their business, coupled with the capability to drill down to specific data points.

Eckerson says performance dashboards have become tools that empower executives to measure, monitor and their businesses.

He says such dashboards are the "new face" of because they represent the fulfilment of BI`s potential to deliver insights into an organisation.

New approaches to database marketing

The latest analytic theories and database marketing strategies are making a huge difference on college and university campuses throughout the United States, reports Campus Technology.

The report says new approaches to business intelligence are providing more targeted methods of doing things like attracting new students.

The newer enrolment modelling approach to database marketing identifies the key characteristics of enrolled students, allowing an institution to determine the likelihood of students enrolling.

The predictive enrolment modelling uses student characteristics to build a statistical model that assigns a score to each prospect, enabling institutions to target their marketing efforts at those prospects who are most likely to respond.
