MIP Holdings, the Bryanston-based financial services administration software company, was the official sponsor for the winning Titans team at the recent Polokwane international volleyball championship.
MIP sponsored the senior team's travel and equipment needs for the championship as part of its ongoing corporate social investment programme.
Nine teams competed in the annual event, including squads from neighbouring states Botswana, Swaziland and Lesotho, to give the competition international flavour.
"Due to international duty of two of our players, we were not at full strength," says Shudley Ryklief, who heads quality assurance and documentation at MIP, and is the Titans coach. "But after a straight sets win in the first game against the Lesotho team they played confidently."
The Titans breezed through the semi-final three sets to one, to set up the final against the team from Botswana. "This was our toughest test to date but after a marathon struggle we won three sets to two," says Ryklief.
The Titans consists of players particularly from previously disadvantaged communities, and MIP's sponsorship has enabled them to maintain their standing as one of the top volleyball teams in South Africa.
"It is critical for all good corporate citizens in South Africa to engage with the community at levels that support sustainable development of the company, groups and individuals," says Don Elliott, sales director at MIP. "By combining our collective energies we build a more prosperous society."
