Trackersuite.Net 3.0 released
Automation Centre, a provider of advanced team collaboration software, has released TrackerSuite.Net 3.0, an update of its Web-based project management and virtual office platform, says CMS Wire.
The product allows project managers, IT administrators, purchasing managers, HR personnel, financial executives and others to collaborate from a central enterprise database, integrated with other core systems in real-time.
Users can also exchange and analyse information from most anywhere as well as customise a plethora of features from widgets to e-mail integration.
trumps software in PPM
A recent survey by SearchCIO.com found that seven out of 10 large enterprises report having a project and portfolio management (PPM) discipline, but only 38% use PPM software in pursuing their strategy, writes SearchCIO.com.
Moreover, only one-third ranked IT portfolio management features as very important in their PPM software choice, compared with project management features, which are very important to almost 60% of respondents. The survey was conducted in May and drew 304 respondents.
Organisations do not necessarily need IT portfolio management software to enact a portfolio management strategy, and many instead rely on a mixture of other software programs. But in either case, they must have a strong IT portfolio strategy or set of processes to guide project planning, prioritisation, purchasing and resource allocation, experts and practitioners agree.
