Ubuntu Technologies wins kudos from Huawei

IT services and solutions provider Ubuntu Technologies has underlined its growing credentials in the enterprise technology market by being named South Africa's leading unified communications partner by global vendor Huawei.

Ubuntu's commendation, at the Huawei Channel Partner Conference 2013 recently, highlighted the company's growing proficiency in integrating data, voice, video and workflow technologies to meet strategic business objectives.

Ubuntu Technologies CEO Wandile Bereng said the company had enjoyed significant growth in 2013 by focusing on growth in three key areas - unified communications and collaboration, networking and next-generation data centre solutions.

"There's a growing trend among South African businesses to use unified communications solutions and technology to improve business efficiency and improve customer service," said Bereng. "Our investment in Huawei allows us to offer a one-stop service to our clients, including solution consulting, network design, service deployment, and management service."

Although Huawei is a fairly new entrant to the South African enterprise space, Bereng says the company's understanding of emerging market solutions has given it a clear advantage in the local market.

"Our partnership with Huawei means we've been able to quickly meet local market demands and grow our reputation as an organisation that delivers complex, integrated solutions," said Bereng. "Our recent success in delivering a unified communications solution into a major public sector account demonstrates that Ubuntu is entering a new stage of its development."

Ubuntu's approach of providing traditional networking solutions is evolving and the company views today's network as a platform that enables the delivery multiple converging services. "We believe that the network of today is changing and that the networks of tomorrow will become more and more important to carry services such as voice, video and mobility devices."

Next-generation data centre solutions are another pillar of the new world of IT, says Bereng. The way workers access and manage information is changing, and with it, the traditional role of the data centre as solely a data storage and retrieval service.

"The next-generation data centre will change our customer business, because it will be designed to reduce cost, improve management and address green computing environments. With our technology partners, we will continue to provide server, storage and virtualisation solutions and assist our clients to migrate towards a next-generation data centre environment to allow them to recognise the benefits of such an environment," said Bereng.
