United Linux beta nearly ready
After much flag-waving and promises, the United Linux group is expecting to release the first beta of its distribution by the end of August. Problem is that the first release will be a closed product for the four founding companies only. But the group, which comprises SuSE, Connectiva, TurboLinux and Caldera, promises that an open beta will be available towards the end of September. The distribution is supposedly designed for the business user and aims to "streamline Linux development and certification".
