"There is no doubt that the demand for BA training has really taken off," says Ziaan Hattingh, MD of IndigoCube. "Our revenue as a training provider had more than doubled this year, compared to 2011. That's great for the company, but it's also very good news for the South African IT sector, as it means that we are recognising the need for business analysts who understand business change needs, and are able to assess the impact of those changes by capturing, analysing and documenting requirements, and then supporting the communication and delivery of those requirements to the organisation. It's a critical function that requires a highly specialised set of skills, and companies are obviously more willing to spend money on upping their people's abilities in this area."

Hattingh adds that he has also seen exceptional growth in the demand for agile software development training over the last 12 months. "It's notable that the market is obviously starting to take this approach more seriously."
