Kicking off HP World 2014 in Sandton this morning, HP South Africa showcased a vintage HOREX motorcycle to illustrate how even venerable, 100-year-old brands can use new technology to innovate and boost business.
The annual event for HP partners and customers has this year attracted over 1 200 delegates and the 'who's who' of the global IT industry for talks on the major trends changing the face of IT and business now.
Focused on the 'new style of IT', HP World is updating delegates on trends in cloud, big data analytics, security and mobility - the four catalysts for change and the four pillars of HP's New Style of IT methodology.
Opening the event this morning, HP worldwide VP for Strategic Marketing Paul Muller noted that massive change is taking place in business and IT, and that enterprises need to look at an array of solutions to enable the new era of agile, innovative and secure business.

The regional CTO for HP Software EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa), Ulrich Pfeiffer, arrived on stage riding a vintage HOREX motorcycle, to illustrate how even vintage brands can adopt new solutions to innovate. He outlined HP's work with HOREX to revolutionise the company's service and product management.
Frank van Rees, HP South Africa MD, said the growth in the number of delegates attending HP World - this year saw double the attendance of last year - was a sign that HP's new strategy resonates with customers and partners. "In South Africa, we see huge potential to use the new style of IT not only to grow our own business, but also to help create new market leaders among our customers, through the innovative use of big data analytics, mobility, cloud and security solutions," he said.
