Visa goes wireless
Visa has struck a mobile deal with US Bank which will allow Visa cardholders to make mobile money transfers from one Visa cardholder's account to another, states Cnet.
US Bank Visa cardholders would use a Web browser on their phone to access funds and transfer it directly to a bank account, withdraw the funds from an ATM machine, or use the money to make purchases.
Visa is also working with cellphone giant Nokia and new entrant Google's Android to offer mobility to its service.
Sprint offers mobile banking
Sprint Nextel has released a downloadable application that will let its subscribers bank and pay bills from their cellphones, reports Cnet.
MyMoneyManager will provide online banking access to subscribers with accounts at Citibank, IBC Bank and PNC Bank.
Subscribers will be able to check balances, pay bills, and find nearby branches with ATMs using the application on their phone.
Rural banks embrace mobile banking
Globe Telecom's mobile commerce subsidiary, G-Xchange (GXI), is collaborating with the Rural Bankers Association of the Philippines (RBAP) to further expand the existing Mobile Phone Banking Services (MPBS) of rural banks, says MB.com.
GXI president Rizza Maniego-Eala and RBAP president Tomas Gomez IV signed a memorandum which will serve as the partnership's framework for the expansion of MPBS.
Using the GCash payment platform, MPBS will be made available to more than 500 rural bank branches and their clients.
