Vodafone Essar CEO resigns
Vodafone Essar CEO Asim Ghosh is retiring after 10 years at the helm, says Domain-b.
Marten Pieters, who is currently a director on the board of Luxembourg-based Millicom International Cellular, will replace him. Ghosh will continue as a non-executive member of the Vodafone Essar board.
Ghosh joined the company in 1998, when it was a single-circle operation offering services in Mumbai under the Max Touch brand. The company is now India's third-largest telecom operator after Bharti Airtel and Reliance Communications, with more than 63 million subscribers and presence in 21 out of the 22 circles in the country.
Packet Design bags new CTO
Packet Design has appointed former AT&T CTO Hossein Eslambolchi to its board of directors, reports Business Times.
Eslambolchi is chairman of 2020 Venture Partners. He was AT&T's CTO from 2000 to 2005 and was also president of the AT&T Global Networking Technology Services, president and CEO of AT&T Labs, and CIO during his 19 years with AT&T.
Packet Design is a supplier of network appliances. Its investors include Advanced Technology Partners, Masthead Venture Partners, Mayfield Fund, Allegis Capital and Juniper Networks.
New CEO for Nortel Mexico
Nortel has appointed Galib Karim as president and CEO of Nortel Mexico, states Trading Markets.
The communications technology company says Karim will be responsible for leading the company's business strategy in Mexico, maintaining and building relationships with current and future customers and managing the public affairs in the country.
During his 12 years with the company, Karim has held several strategic positions in Mexico, the Caribbean and Latin America, including his last role as director of strategic accounts. His other prior positions include director of Bay Networks.
