Web 2.0 enterprise modelling begins
Work has begun on the development of the world`s first Web 2.0 enterprise modelling solution, utilising a $1.2 million grant from the federal government, according to Computer World.
Australian software company Holocentric will match the grant dollar-for-dollar in a $2.4 million plus software development project to create `Modelpedia`, a next-generation enterprise modelling solution. It combines modelling tools, an enterprise-wide modelling repository and a wiki-like Web 2.0 collaboration environment.
Holocentric CEO John Forrest said organisations already model themselves from top to bottom with a wide range of standalone modelling tools.
OMB gets new chief architect
Kshemendra Paul has taken over as acting chief architect at the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), according to FCW.
Experts say Paul is an up-and-comer in the chief architect community. He is co-chairman of the Services Subcommittee of the CIO Council`s Architecture and Infrastructure Committee, which will analyse how agencies use shared services and service-oriented architecture (SOA).
Paul will have his work cut out for him during his short stay at OMB, analysts predict, because the budget for the agency`s Federal Enterprise Architecture Program Management Office has been cut each of the past two years, decreasing from $2.2 million to $550 000.
