Where the user is the centre

The new MediaFusion content management and delivery platform from PacketVideo puts the user at the centre of media services, according to Business Wire.

The MediaFusion platform, first introduced as an on-device portal for rich media services late in 2007, has evolved to include complete music, music store, interactive live TV and video experiences, all of which can be operator-customised and user-personalised.

"We're rapidly moving to a place where the user is the centre of media services, controlling and modifying their media environment to suit their individual needs," said James Brailean, PhD, CEO and co-founder of PacketVideo.

The Well uses EMC

EMC, provider of information infrastructure solutions, says The Well Project is using its Documentum software to power its international information portal to provide women with HIV/Aids information, says CNNMoney.

The solution has enabled The Well Project to create an information infrastructure to provide concurrent information and real-time updates for its more than 70 000 monthly English- and Spanish-speaking visitors across multiple portals.

"There's nowhere near enough money in AIDS research to do all the things we need to do," said Dawn Averitt Bridge, founder of The Well Project. "And the money that is available is spent ineffectively and inefficiently. We need to be smart in how we create, manage and deliver information, so it gets results on a global basis."

HP to buy Tower

Hewlett-Packard has signed an agreement with Tower Software to acquire the document and records management company, says CRN.

HP is buying Australia-based Tower in a move to expand its e-discovery and business, said Robin Purohit, VP and GM of HP's information management software business.

Tower's primary product, Trim Context, is an enterprise content management solution that supports retentions schedules for most types of content in order to help manage business-critical information according to a user's company policies.
