
WiMax, Intel, Xohm celebrate 4G
Intel and its WiMax ecosystem partners celebrated the release of Xohm mobile 4G service, and announced new access devices and retail strategies, says Newswire.
Xohm, Sprint's 4G business unit, is building what it believes will be the fastest mobile broadband network available in the US.
Xohm and its WiMax ecosystem will provide customers with new wireless data and Web services by incorporating WiMax capabilities in consumer electronic devices.
Nokia, T-Mobile add voice capabilities
Speech recognition company Nuance Communications has signed deals with Nokia and T-Mobile, reports InformationWeek.
The multi-year deal with Nokia could change the way users interact with their handsets, as it could lead to dictation for things like SMS, navigation, and more.
Additionally, the companies will create an open integration framework so that third-party developers can utilise this input method for new applications.
Privus wins evolution award
Privus Mobile's real Caller ID service for cellphones was named Best Evolution in the BlackBerry category at the 2008 Handango Champion Awards, says Marketwatch.
Handango, a multi-platform smartphone applications provider, selected the award winners based on customer feedback, sales, product marketing and overall product quality.
The Privus Mobile service, which displays the incoming caller's name and number on the user's display screen, stood out among the crowd with more than 140 000 smartphone applications from approximately 23 000 developers.
