Another vacancy arose from the resignation of the former deputy minister of economic development Enock Godongwana. The last was caused by the transfer of the former deputy minister of public works Henrietta Bogopane-Zulu to the ministry for women, children and persons with disability.

Deputy transport minister Jeremy Cronin is now the deputy minister of public works and the new deputy minister of transport is Sindisiwe Chikunga, former chair of Parliament's portfolio committee on police.

The new deputy minister of public enterprises is Gratitude Magwanishe, Hlengiwe Mkhize is the new deputy minister of economic development and the new deputy minister of higher is Mduduzi Manana.
