African telecommunications company Paratus Telecom has entered the local telecoms market by acquiring Maxwell Technology, a full-spectrum end-to-end connectivity solutions provider.

Paratus Telecommunications is an African Telecommunications company with its head office in Windhoek, Namibia. It also has fully licensed offices in Angola, Zambia, with additional international points-of-presence located in Johannesburg, South Africa; Lisbon, Portugal as well as London, in the UK.

With a presence in over 22 countries, the telecoms company says it aims to be the connectivity solutions facilitator of choice for companies expanding into Africa as it is well positioned to address any connectivity requirements.

Schalk Erasmus, Paratus Telecom COO, says Maxwell Technology was a perfect fit.

"As an independent provider of last-mile, satellite-based, connectivity and access solutions for their mining and engineering clients in Africa, Maxwell quickly evolved to a full-spectrum, end-to-end connectivity solutions provider to clients from predominantly un-served and under-served areas."

Through its own networks or via carefully selected partnerships, Paratus Telecom tailors solutions ranging from VSAT, point to point wireless, fibre, diginet and LTE. Connectivity solutions can be tailored to meet the needs of local users spanning from corporate level, secure private networks and MPLS, right down to cost-effective solutions for SME and home users, says the company.

"It is our job to find the customer the right, yet cost-effective solution anywhere," adds Kallie Carlsen, MD of Paratus Telecom SA.

"We have a strong presence throughout Africa, ideal for South African companies wishing to expand their operations into the rest of Africa. Our partnerships in SA allow us to be a connectivity services aggregator, a one-stop shop for all managed connectivity services," he concludes.
