If 2020 was anything to go by, absolutely anything can happen this year.

While local channel players have largely bounced back from the travails of the lockdown, uncertainty remains. As Rakesh Parbhoo from Westcon-Comstor told The Margin, it’s becoming harder to speak in absolutes, adding that if the economists are right, things are going to get worse before they get better.

In particular, there were challenges around cyber security last year, which will most likely continue into 2021. Part of the problem arose from those working from home no longer being protected by the company’s firewall or other perimeter defences. There was also less security training, if it happened at all, and employees were under greater pressure, which may have led to a rise in security-related mistakes.

We also examine channel trends for this year, as well as how Alviva is looking to strengthen its dominance with the Tarsus buyout. There's also a story on why DR is no longer enough to protect your organisation, and how to succeed at virtual selling.

These, and other stories, can be found in the pages of the latest issue of The Margin, SA's premier channel publication. You’re invited to read the Q4 2020 edition, at no charge.
