VMworld has debuted vRealize Suite 2017, an advancement of its cloud management platform aimed at improving the deployment, operations and management of IT infrastructure and application services across a multi-cloud landscape.

According to the company, digital transformation is gaining traction as organisations across all industries are realising the advantage of trends such as big data, cloud, social, IOT and mobility. A 2017 VMware customer survey revealed that 67% of enterprise customers said they are moving towards using multiple clouds.

However, managing resources and applications across multiple clouds, raises issues such as workload cloud portability and the need to monitor performance, manage capacity and achieve cost transparency across clouds.

The suite will integrate the most recent releases of vRealize Operations, vRealize Automation, vRealise Business for Cloud and vRealize Log Insight, and will feature additional lifecycle management capabilities to support customers' data centre modernisation and cloud integration efforts, the company says.

According to Pat Gelsinger, CEO of VMware, his organisation is helping IT businesses become more agile and innovative, by modernising their data centres and integrating public clouds with their private clouds.

vRealize 2017 is a cloud management platform that can manage hybrid environments across private and public clouds. According to Gelsinger, it will speed up the delivery of IT services through automation and pre-defined policies, providing agility and flexibility for developers and lines of business while keeping a handle on governance and control.

He says the suite supports heterogeneous environments that are a mix of both traditional and cloud-native applications across virtual machines and containers, running in a software-defined data centre environment or multiple clouds.

"VMware vRealize Suite 2017 introduces new lifecycle management capabilities to enable IT to accelerate time to value for their cloud management platform, and deliver and manage application and infrastructure services faster and more efficiently."
