Software AG exhibits Digital Business Platform 2.0 at GovTech 2015

KwaZulu-Natal, 26 Oct 2015

Software AG will be continuing its partnership with the Government Technology Conference (GovTech) this year, and will be demonstrating its Digital Business Platform 2.0, which was recently unveiled globally at Innovation World 2016, in Las Vegas. This platform now includes game-changing enhancements that will help public and private enterprises plan, govern, design, implement and accelerate their digital projects and strategies.

The theme for this year's GovTech is: 'Partnering for Service Delivery', and will address concerns around the availability of IT infrastructure and skills development for many government organisations and institutions. Software AG's CTO: Africa, Patrick Shields, said: "The more complex the IT and public sector environment gets, the critical function of selecting vendors who are able to provide strong and capable support, as well as reliable strategic planning tools, comes to the fore. The public sector requires suppliers to really partner with them - working together towards mutual success."

Software AG will be specifically showcasing the Digital Business Platform 2.0, which is able to significantly improve daily government operations and enhance customer service and service delivery. It includes new assets and technologies to develop and integrate differentiating applications at speed, and with the flexibility needed as digitisation opens up unprecedented new opportunities to those fast enough to capitalise on them.

"This platform operates at the intersection of real-time public sector delivery operations, and changing citizen requirements. This platform offers government new ways of delivering traditional public services using modern e-government techniques," said Shields.

Software AG's Digital Business Platform 2.0 allows for fast and cost-effective development and deployment of a new type of citizen-facing front-office business applications and solutions, in a timeframe that maximises return on investment for government.

Government departments will be able to implement the Digital Business Platform 2.0 by integrating seamlessly with legacy IT infrastructures, enhancing existing systems and implementing new capabilities through its innovative and easily customisable integration layer.

This platform will ensure improved service delivery to citizens through enhanced, streamlined engagement and communications across all government sectors, operating throughout a vast array of communities. Utilising the Digital Business Platform 2.0 enables the transformation of procedures from onerous, paper-based processes to become a fully digital enterprise reality with real-time measuring and reporting, by adapting IT systems to rapidly changing business conditions.

"Just one of many examples of the possibilities available to improving services to South Africa's citizens is that by utilising new solutions, citizens would have access to an online self-service portal - eliminating long queues and offering real-time responses to queries," explains Shields.

By adopting such platforms, government organisations will be leading the way in technological development and implementation nationwide, creating a faster, agile and optimised digital vision for South Africa. "The IT agility and speed needed to be successful in the digitising public services demands the right ideas, the right development skills set, the right technology and the ability to eliminate the barriers between them. This is where Software AG's Digital Business Platform 2.0 becomes the ideal solution for the unique requirements of South Africa's public sector," concludes Shields.

GovTech 2015

The State Information Technology Agency (SITA) will this year host the 10th instalment of the Government Technology Conference, which, over the years, became popularly known as GovTech. A premium ICT platform for the leading thoughts and their associated innovations in the ongoing quest to find practical and progressive solutions to a developing nation using ICT tools, GovTech has been positioned to give participants value for money, be they partaking as sponsors or speakers, or merely attending as delegates.

This year's event will be organised under theme: "Partnering for Service Delivery" and sub-themed: "Connecting Communities for Development and Growth". GovTech 2015 will reflect on the journey thus far travelled by South Africans both in the public and private sector spaces, as they worked together through this and other fora to transform the enigma that was once ICT and make it responsive to societal challenges.
