Jacques Malherbe has resigned as CEO of Westcon SA after holding the reins at the distributor for over seven years.

A member of the global Westcon Group, Westcon SA announced yesterday that Malherbe had tendered his resignation and would leave the company at the end of the month.

Keith Rich, senior VP for the AIME region, will assume the top spot on a temporary basis, until a permanent appointment is made, which the company says will happen "in the next few months".

Malherbe, who has over two decades in the ICT and logistics industries, joined Westcon at the beginning of 2006. The company says he was "instrumental in making Westcon SA the valued distributor of choice it is today". Prior to his appointment at the distributor in 2006, Malherbe was a consultant at a strategic consulting firm in the US.

Westcon SA, a subsidiary of the 27-year-old global distributor of converged communications solutions, is one of SA's main networking distributors and has an established global presence.

Westcon Group CEO Dean Douglas says the firm is "actively seeking" a replacement for Malherbe and an announcement will be made regarding this in due course.
