Cisco comes on board as lead sponsor of ITWeb's flagship Security Summit

Johannesburg, 14 May 2021

Cisco has come on board as the event sponsor for the ITWeb Security Summit 2021, the must-attend gathering for every IT, security and business decision-maker.

According to Garsen Naidu, GM, Cisco Sub-Saharan Africa, security continues to be one of the most important concerns for its customers – from small businesses to large corporations. The company’s Future of Secure Remote Work Report revealed that 66% of CIOs have indicated that lessons learned from the pandemic will result in an increase in cyber security investments over the next year.

At the same time, mostly because of using so many single point solutions, security has become increasingly difficult to manage, he said. “So as the world’s leading information technology, security and networking company, we would like to share our insights and innovation with the security specialist community in South Africa, and this conference is a great platform for that.

ITWeb Security Summit 2021: 1-3 June

Book your seat now to get up to speed on cyber security trends, solutions and best practices – all without leaving your home or office. The event will feature more than 50 speakers, including six international keynotes, who will be sharing their knowledge and expert opinions with you.

“We aim to showcase our mission to be our customers’ most trusted partner by providing effective security solutions. Every day we are entrusted with protecting hospitals, governments, schools and businesses. We are very proud of the fact that SC Media has named Cisco the ‘Best Security Company’ at the 2021 SC Awards,” Naidu adds.

The SC Awards are the academy awards of the cyber security industry, and Cisco was recognised for its vision of helping customers achieve simple and integrated security.

Naidu says events of this nature are important for the industry. “Events such as this provide a platform for companies to discuss issues of security with industry players as well as provide an educational platform. They also provide the opportunity to demonstrate how effective security is and its simplicity of use. Complexity is still customers’ number one challenge when it comes to securing their business.”

Cisco recognises that not all organisations are at the same place when it comes to security, cloud migration and digitisation, and aims to assist all of them to be able to do security their way and prepare for the future.

Speaking of what delegates will gain from attending the ITWeb Security Summit, he says the way we work and live has changed a lot over the last year, adding that attendees will gain deeper understanding of the security landscape, as well as the implications of the pandemic with regards to hybrid workforces and security.

“Our goal is to share Cisco’s Security strategy and approach, unpacking 'cyber security for an inclusive future' – protecting what’s now and what’s next,” Naidu ends.
