Oracle has released more details of its newly announced lifetime support services for all Oracle, JD Edwards and PeopleSoft software.

These details were outlined at Oracle World 2005, which is taking place in San Francisco this week.

The support policy provides access to technical support experts and future upgrades to major releases for all product lines for the duration of the product licence, the company said, and consists of three stages of support: premier, extended and sustaining support.

Premier support provides maintenance and support of Oracle technology and applications for five years from release date and includes updates, fixes, security alerts, legal and regulatory requirements, certification with third-party products, major product releases and technology releases, and technical support.

Extended support extends premier support for three years on select releases for an additional fee. It includes access to upgrade to the next generation of Oracle products.

Sustaining support provides access to major product and technology releases and technical support including access to online support tools, Oracle knowledge bases and call centre technical support for as long as customers license Oracle software, the company said.

"The policy effectively extends support for current PeopleSoft and JD Edwards products from the current four to five years and beyond, demonstrating Oracle`s long-term commitment to a superior ownership experience," says Juergen Rottler, executive support VP.

According to Rottler, the new lifetime support policy outlines support options, guarantees access to technical experts, helps customers take full advantage of product enhancements and ensures systems are always available and secure.
