Local software testing firm Datamate has partnered with Israeli Testcraft Technologies to distribute its Codeless Selenium solution in SA.

Datamate specialises in software testing training and consultancy services for small and medium enterprises, and was established last year.

Testcraft's Codeless Selenium is a cloud-based testing automation solution for Web applications. According to the company, it allows users to create automated Selenium-based test scenarios without actually having to code.

Testcraft was founded in 2015 by Israeli entrepreneurs Yarin Podoler and Daniel Levin.

"It's no longer a secret that automation engineers are scarce and it becomes difficult to hire and retain them, particularly in SA. Setting up automated testing is a highly costly process and also comes with maintenance baggage. Through our partnership [with Datamate] we will be able to help companies automate manual testers and in so doing cut various costs," says the company.

According to Datamate MD Tom Zimba, the distribution deal is geared at small to medium enterprises. "We are mainly targeting mid-level companies with between 500 and 5 000 employees that usually create Web applications for their customers for their internal use. The most relevant companies for this solution to flourish would be in the insurance, financial services, banking and media sectors."

Zimba says this is the first time the solutions will be available in SA and the firm is looking to expand to other countries.

"We have already started marketing the solution across SA and Nigeria, and are looking at expanding to Namibia, Tanzania, Kenya, Cameroon and Democratic Republic of Congo by the end of 2018.
