Quintus Moolman, regional manager for Sales & Solutions at Dimension Data Eastern Cape, has been involved in the ICT sector for close on 30 years, mostly in the same region. Having a systems engineering background, he was at Tarsus for nine years, before he joined Dimension Data in 2000, where he held two roles: firstly as pre-sales solutions architect in the datacentre and storage business, and later as sales manager in the Eastern Cape.

Moolman says he thrives on working with people, and enjoys strategic planning and the execution of strategies.

He says Dimension Data has grown substantially in the region and has built many areas of expertise such as in the automotive, education, and the FMCG sectors. "In our industry and our organisation, the only constant is change. We have to creatively reinvent ourselves in order to remain relevant to our clients in this ever-changing and highly competitive market."

Six years ago, realising that not many organisations brought their events to the Eastern Cape, he conceptualised a business-focused ICT event called Accelerate, the first of its kind in the region.

"The purpose was to create a platform that would showcase the 'art of the possible' and the next- level business value of IT, elevating our brand and promoting our partnerships with non-profit organisations like Operation Smile, Masinyusane and Qhubeka. We believe in giving kids a 'hand-up' - not a 'hand-out' - and promoting skills development."

This year will be the sixth iteration of the Accelerate event, which he says "has grown beyond all expectations, not only for Dimension Data and its subsidiaries, but also our vendor partners and clients."

Another initiative that is close to his heart is to support a number of nature reserves, using a blend of technologies to fight the scourge of rhino poaching.
