Xerox punts Earth Day

Xerox has established several projects this week for Earth Day that encourage employees around the world to renew their commitment to the environment through their efforts at home and at work, says Design Taxi.

From planting trees and spreading the word about all that Xerox is doing to protect our planet, to collecting and recycling waste, each Xerox location is celebrating Earth Day in its individual way.

Xerox is also presenting its15th annual Earth Awards, a programme that honours employee teams that have not only improved the performance of the company's operations but also helped to protect the environment through innovative actions and programmes.

Webinar focuses on 'green IT'

WhatTheyThink.com is hosting a free printing industry educational Webinar for industry professionals entitled 'It's Good to be Green'.

The session will be led by Barbara Pellow, director of the business development and custom communications services for research firm InfoTrends.

Sponsored by HP, the event will be held on 30 April, from 2pm to 3pm EDT.

Sun Press upgrades

The Kitsap Sun's printing press will undergo a significant technology upgrade this year, thanks to a seven-figure capital investment from parent company EW Scripps, says Kitsap Sun.

Planned improvements include computerised digital ink-setting, a new drive system, and a modernised console.

"Pasters", which allow paper rolls to be changed without stopping the press run, will also be installed, resulting in significantly less newsprint waste.
