A new Netgear 'smart', feature-rich baby monitoring system has been released by Duxbury Networking.

Dubbed the Arlo Baby Smart HD Monitoring Camera, the device goes far beyond traditional baby monitors to significantly improve the monitoring experience while providing the solution busy parents require to keep their families safe and at ease.

This is according to Tobie van Schalkwyk, Business Development manager at Duxbury Networking, the local Netgear distributor. He says the Arlo Baby represents a giant leap forward in baby monitoring technology.

"It offers a list of innovative features such as a music player, ambient sensors for monitoring air quality, temperature and humidity, and a built-in multi-coloured, remotely dimmable night light.

"The thoughtfully-designed Arlo Baby - with its cute, child-friendly persona - should also appeal to concerned parents as it is equipped with a full set of in-built monitoring options such as remote access to video, live streaming and recording, two-way audio and advanced night vision capabilities.

"These features enable parents to watch over their baby in crystal-clear high definition (HD) video, day and night, from anywhere. In addition, with a built-in rechargeable battery, the Arlo Baby camera can go untethered, allowing parents to move the camera around the house when needed."

Van Schalkwyk says the Arlo Baby's smart analytics platform - one of the unit's most forward-looking features - provides real-time, customisable alerts when motion or sound are detected, in particular, the distinctive sound of a baby's crying.

Netgear's mobile app allows parents to be connected to their baby via smartphone, tablet or laptop computer whether they are in the next room or across the globe.

"What's more, with rolling seven days of free cloud recordings, the unit ensures users will not miss out on any special, often fleeting, baby images they would like to retain for the family album," he adds.

The Arlo Baby's recommended retail price is R6 299, including VAT.
