Gracenote unveils video manager

The new Gracenote Video Platform will give consumers, device manufacturers and content owners the most effective way to search, identify, manage, and enjoy expanding video collections when accessed from their computers, mobile phones, DVD players, and other consumer electronics devices, says Earth Times.

The new Video Platform combines Gracenote's Global Media Database with data from partners, including the British Film Institute catalogue of data on feature films, TV episodes, documentaries and animated films; and Stingray, a video data provider for the Japanese market.

The Gracenote database will be the largest catalogue of video works ever compiled and will provide detailed, rich data for over 300 000 DVDs and nearly one million total unique video programmes.

4HomeMedia unveils service

4HomeMedia has unveiled the first media management service specifically built from the ground-up for service providers and their consumer subscribers, says Reuters.

The company, in conjunction with product partner Ximeta, has also won a Consumer Electronic Show Innovations Honouree award for the media management application running on a network attached storage device.

The 4HomeMedia ControlPoint embedded software can run on the networked attached storage device, a set-top box, or in a home router/residential gateway, and is able to control all the audio, video, and photos on the networked attached storage device
