Programos Software has emerged the winner of the Best Software Company with Local Content at the Titans of Tech awards which held in Lagos last weekend, says AllAfrica.

President and chief software architect, Amos Emmanuel at a reception at the City Mall in Lagos, received the award on behalf of the firm.

Programos Software is a Nigerian software development company that offers custom software development, Web development and ICT management training services in both English and French instructional languages.

Avocent simplifies IT

Avocent has simplified its IT administration by introducing a new way to manage an enterprise's servers and PCs on the Cisco Application eXtension Platform, reports Fox Business.

Avocent will provide IT management software on the new Cisco AXP.

The Avocent-enabled software running on the Cisco ISR will facilitate administration of servers and PCs from a single routing device.

Novell opens dev centre

Novell, a provider of interoperable Linux platform, today inaugurated its 200 000 square foot India Development Centre, its largest facility outside the US, in Bagmane Tech Park, says CIOL.

The company also announced it will invest $100 million in India over the next three years. The new centre can occupy 700 employees.

The Bangalore facility employs around 520 staff, and the company plans to recruit more in coming years. The Novell IDC supports global engineering initiatives with responsibility for Novell products and technologies including SUSE Linux Enterprise, ZENworks and others.
