Google has accredited Quirk eMarketing as its first Google Analytics Authorised Consultant (GAAC) in Africa.

The Cape Town-based company joins a selected group of just over 100 companies to achieve this certification in the four years since the Internet search giant began the accreditation.

GAAC is an endorsement by Google that the accredited company has the insight necessary to educate the market about e-marketing and the general use of the Internet as a marketing and advertising tool.

In order to gain the accreditation, the company has to submit its credentials, case studies and its staff members have to write exams that prove they possess the necessary skills and competencies. Quirk's staff passed their exams with an average mark of 98%.

Quirk marketing manger Tim Shier says the accreditation strengthens Quirk's credibility in the market.

“It validates what we have been doing for a long time and that is using real data and real experience to deliver data-based insight and analysis to develop strategies for our clients,” he says.

Shier says this award is significant given the increasingly important role of analytics and conversion optimisation in achieving online results.

“Google's endorsement is encouraging for players in the South African e-marketing space, who aim to be on par with global leaders such as 77Agency, EpikOne and ROIRevolution,” Shier says.

He says other South African companies have applied to Google for the accreditation, but the US company has so far refused to say who they are.
