HP has unveiled the first phase of what it calls a 'one-stop-shop' solution for its SME customers.

The solution will leverage existing HP hardware, such as PCs and printers, with Google Apps for Business, the latter's cloud-based communication and collaboration tools.

HP today entered the Google Apps Reseller programme.

The company said over five million companies run on Google Apps for Business at present. Apps include Gmail, IM, Calendar, Drive, Docs and suchlike.

HP SMB IT in a Box features HP's management software layer, and aims to simplify customers' IT environments, and lower their operating costs and infrastructure requirements. In turn, this aims to improve workflow and productivity.

Ron Coughlin, senior VP and GM: Consumer PCs and Solutions at HP, says SMB IT in a Box is the latest collaboration between Google and HP, and was born from the recognition that the needs of the SME are constantly evolving.

"Together with HP's channel partners, we will offer our customers an incredible bundle of PCs, printers and Google Apps for Business, enabling business owners to focus on their customers instead of their IT."

Future plans will see the inclusion of other solutions SMEs need to succeed, such as integrated consoles for resellers, IT administrators and end-users.
